Writing Skills Courses

The following writing skills courses take place in the lecture-period on a weekly basis. They are equivalent to 2 SWS and offer a generous time frame to get to know and test different dimensions and strategies of academic writing and presentations and to implement them in your own individual projects (term papers, presentations, etc.).

Writing and Presenting in Academia and Profession
Research shows that academic and professional careers of STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) majors largely depend on their soft skills such as writing and oral communication. This four-credit course offers training in these two areas. The hybrid format of the course provides ample space for tailoring course material and tasks to your professional interests and goals. English C1: Writing and Presenting in the Humanities and Social Sciences
A lot of aspects of your academic and future professional careers depend on how well you can write to present your research and ideas in English. This course offers an interactive and dynamic setting for engaging with writing more efficiently. You will read and analyze authentic essays and academic articles from the humanities and social sciences to improve your analytical skills and learn more about successful writing strategies. You will work on writing projects of your choice. The hybrid format of the course offers ample space for tailoring course material and tasks to your professional interests.
