About the Writing Lab
Academic writing and presentation skills are among the key competencies you need to be successful throughout your course of study and later in your career.
Based on process-oriented research into writing and writing pedagogy, we understand both L1 and L2 writing as a complex process that requires a wide variety of knowledge and learnable skills. A competent presentation of discipline-specific content is impossible without training in these skills.
The writing lab w.space offers a space for the development and training of academic writing communication skills to students, doctoral candidates, and postdocs from all disciplines across TU Dortmund University. At the same time, we create a dynamic space for interdisciplinary exchange on writing and communication-related topics. We cooperate with the Student Counseling Services (writing weeks), the Graduate Center (writing groups), and, upon request, with the other TU Dortmund units and departments.
We offer writing instruction and counseling for German (L1 and L2) and English. The acronym w.space stands for “schreiben - präsentieren - academic – communication” and thus reflects the multilingual nature of our offers.
