Exams and Retakes

Exams usually take place during the last week of the semester. For some discipline-specific English courses, centralized final exams are offered during the semester break. The dates of the exams are communicated through the course instructors. In some cases, semester-long cumulative performances are also scheduled. Please refer to the individual course descriptions for details on specific course requirements.

All examinations are obligatory. Those who choose not to take them and wish to register for a higher level course later will have to take a placement test at that time.

Students who meet the following criteria can register for a retake exam.

  • Those who have attended their final examination but have not passed it;
  • Those who had an examination clash on the date of the final examination;
  • Those who were ill on the date of the final examination;
  • Those who had to take part in a university event, excursion, compact course or work experience placement on the date of the final examination;
  • Those who had to work on the date of the final examination.

Please note that we do not accept holiday bookings as a valid criterion for registering for a retake exam.
